Just near the front door of our house we have two tall and bushy golden cane palm trees. We were heading out to a movie on Sunday afternoon and Miss A says “I think there is a nest and eggs in there!” Nah, couldn’t possibly be, what bird would build in a palm tree that gets swooshed around by the breeze every afternoon. We go to have a look and this is what we found

We were so excited! There was only one egg on Sunday but on Monday there was another one and I got these photos while Mum was off looking for some food.
We’ve been trying not to scare the bird off the nest and she seems fairly okay with us being around. I haven’t taken a photo of her on the nest as I want to leave her alone as much as possible.
I’ll do a bit more googling today but I think she is a Crested Pigeon, we have another couple of them that come in and out of the backyard. I’ll come back and correct if I’m wrong.
Edited to add: Okay, I just got a really good look at her and realise that she has no crest! D’oh! She has a very cute little face like the Crested Pigeon but after some googling I found Trevor’s Birding and discover she is a Spotted Turtledove. Right I’m happy now I have that sorted…
