so… what’s up?
May 11, 2009Well things were rolling along nicely and last week I just seemed to have one crap day after another. I don’t know what was going on, wrong planet alignment? Week before full moon? PMS? I stepped on a fairy? Something wasn’t right that’s for sure! Let me recap (without going into mega-vent mode LOL).
1. Got a $35 bill for an overdue DVD which was returned on time but unless we take them to court we have no hope of arguing with them. Paid the bill.
2. Took our 8.5yr old dog to the vet for annual check-up and vaccination and discovered the poor boy has moderate arthitis and needs a course of injections then one every 3 months for life. Of course I want him comfortable but that is an unplanned expense we have to find money for.
3. Work has been slow and I’m chasing a client for an outstanding $20o+ and he isn’t returning my calls.
4. Miss A was horribly upset about going to school on Tuesday because she is having a problem with the teacher so I kept her home. Then I played phone tag with the Deputy Principal trying to speak to her about the issue. Finally caught her on Friday and had to suck up my fear of negative situations and lodge a complaint about a teacher. Fortunately she was lovely about it.
5. Have been having physio on my knee for 5 weeks now and for no apparent reason my health insurer stopped paying benefits on Friday – have to follow that up now and they are awful to try and get to fix things.
6. Relating to number 5, have to go and have an MRI and possible minor surgery on my knee. Is only minor surgery but I won’t be able to walk very far for up to 6 weeks which creates a problem getting Miss A to and from school. Will need to work out a plan there.
7. Drainage works are going to be done on the road we use to get to our local shops – where I pick up any necessities; where I go to physio and dr; where T gets the bus to work; where we go to the vet – and the road will be closed for 6 weeks (which probably means 12 knowing how these things run to timetable – NOT!). There are alternative routes but it’s too far to walk – especially with a dodgy knee! I rang to see if they are going to have pedestrian access and they are going to ‘try’. Yeah thanks for that…
8. Found out my sister (who I don’t speak to) is doing a dodgy on Centrelink – working any hours above her allowed hours for cash so her disability pension doesn’t get cut. If I get get enough details I’ll dob her in. It infuriates me that people can so easily commit fraud like this and not think of the taxpayers who work damn hard so these bludgers can get a bloody pension!
9. I finally resigned from my old government job (went on extended leave 3 years ago) and of course payroll stuffed up the final payment. They have a colourful history of getting just about everything wrong for me so I was not surprised but still pissed off that they yet again, can’t get it right. I’m still trying to sort that out with them.
I’m sure there were other annoyances that I can’t think of now (so I guess they weren’t that important then!). All of these things are minor in the big scheme of things but they all piled on top of each other and gave me a pretty lousy week.
Fortunately, I had a lovely Mother’s Day yesterday and was able to spend it with my Mum too. I’ll get around to taking some photos of the beautiful things Miss A made for me, I had to hold back tears – she’s such a beautiful girl.
